Personal Portfolio Website v1
Abstract: My first personal portfolio website, designed and built in 2014 to showcase my skills and projects, featuring the "Metro" design style.
The Challenge
As a developer, having a personal portfolio is essential for showcasing your work and skills. The challenge was to create my first professional portfolio website from scratch. The goal was to build a site that not only displayed my projects but also reflected contemporary design trends and demonstrated my ability to build a complete web project from concept to deployment.
The Solution
I designed and developed my first personal portfolio, dadangnh.com v1
. The project was a comprehensive exercise in web design, development, and deployment.
Design & Technology
- Metro UI Style: I chose to design the site using the "Metro" design language, which was a major design trend at the time, made popular by Microsoft's Windows 8. This involved creating a clean, tile-based layout with a focus on typography and modern aesthetics.
- WordPress Backend: I used WordPress as the content management system, which allowed me to easily manage my portfolio projects, "About Me" page, and other content.
- Deployment: The site was deployed on a Docker container running Nginx, PHP, and MariaDB, demonstrating an early adoption of containerization for web hosting.
This project was a valuable experience in personal branding and in taking a project from an initial design concept all the way to a live, public-facing website.
